YOKUMOKU | Making "Western-style desserts" a part of Japanese gift-giving culture

YOKUMOKU was founded in 1969 and originated in Aoyama, Tokyo.
The brand name comes from the Swedish word "YOKU MOKU" (meaning: lush forest) , symbolizing nature, warmth, and lasting companionship.

The founder never intended desserts to be "fashionable products" from the beginning.
Instead, I hope to make desserts that I can confidently give to important people .

At that time, Western-style cookies were still a relatively new cultural phenomenon in Japan.
YOKUMOKU chose a slow, but steady, path:
It doesn't pursue complex shapes, but focuses on the balance of butter, flour and baking .

This persistence later led to the creation of the brand's most iconic product—
Cigar-shaped cookies "Cigare (シガール)" .

Its seemingly simple design is actually intended to be "easy to hold, not easily broken, and easy to share."
The melt-in-your-mouth texture comes from repeated adjustments to the cream ratio and rolling temperature.
This isn't about attracting attention, but about making gift-giving a gentler experience .

Therefore, YOKUMOKU originated from a Western-style confectionery shop in Aoyama.
It has become one of the synonyms for "giving gifts = peace of mind" in Japan.
Unassuming, yet always there.
